HAPPY GRANDPARENTS' DAY!

We invited our grandparents to join us for our Friday Fun-day and to celebrate Grandparents' Day.  They helped us with our science and food activities.  We also showed off some of the awesome ways that we use technology in our classroom.  The grandparents agree with me that these kids have it made!  First grade is so much more FUN now than when they were kids!

First Grade Fun
With
Laura Numeroff

We excavated chocolate chips from cookies using toothpicks.
We put the chips into sets of 10s and counted them.

Then, we got to EAT cookies!!!

We made pancakes "the easy way" (mix+water)
We stirred.

We cooked.

We ate!

We baked 3 flavors of muffins and graphed our favorite flavors.

We baked blueberry, strawberry cheesecake, and banana nut.

More kids liked the strawberry cheesecake muffin than any other flavor.  They were YUMMY!!!

Happy Birthday, CARTER!!!!!

Class of 2026: Our First Week of First Grade

WE LOVE PETE THE CAT!

We created the CUTEST multi-media Pete the Cat project!  This is how we did it:
1.  Paint one hand blue.

2. Press blue hand onto paper to make a blue handprint.  This will be Pete's body.  The thumb is his tail.

3. Use a paintbrush to fill in areas that need more paint.
4. On a white paper, draw a horizon line.  Color green below the line and blue above the line to create a background.
5. Cut out handprint and glue it onto the background.
6. Draw the shape of Pete's head on blue construction paper.  Cut it out and add it onto Pete's body.
7.  Add eyes, a nose, and whiskers.
8. Cut out 4 shoes and glue them onto Pete's feet.

We went to the library and Mr. Betz read a story to us.

We love lunchtime, recess, show-and-tell, and centers.  We are quickly becoming great friends!

It's going to be a FABULOUS year in FIRST GRADE!
